Book of Secrets
Entry 428,
I was able to catch up with the noble’s caravan only two days ago and have already actively upheld Shilon’s orders to protect Cordell. On my way to intercept the caravan, I ran into a group of highway man who appeared to be trailing the trade group. Not that it was an issue. The marauders were nothing a couple of drops of Frinumn couldn’t handle. By the time they break out of their paralysis we will have been long gone.
I have been watching the interaction between Cordell and this noble, who calls himself Lord Denli. Though it is obvious, due to social inconsistencies, that they’re marriage is a charade, I am still not certain as to Denli’s authenticity as a noble. The man shows incredible skill with any weapon he touches and has demonstrated an advanced knowledge of shadowing. He appears to be teaching Cordell several complex combat techniques that she is picking up fairly quickly.
It should also be noted that the two are attached to one another, in an emotional sense. If there is anything more intriguing than their combat training, it would be their apparent infatuation with each other. I pray this entry does not go seen, when I say that I envy them in a way. Though I have never enjoyed the feelings that are worn so brightly on their faces, I have grown a subtle longing for the experience. They look so happy. They seem so lost at times, wrapped away in each other. A beautiful shine emanates from Cordell when she is in Lord Denli’s presence. And Lord Denli often loses his noble composure when he is in her presence and falls into a more innocent countenance. Though I have never dared get close enough to hear their words, I can only imagine the sweet sounds that they must utter to each other.
Then again, perhaps I am over analyzing; perhaps this is the ultimate charade of all. Love, the most pure and selfless of acts as they describe in books and poetry, can often be the thin mask used to hide one’s lust, which is blind adherence to man’s primal nature. I wish I could remain vigilant at every moment. I wish I could be as the tribal girl, who they call Gertrude. She views their love with such distain. You could almost taste her bitter repulse toward the two of them being with each other. Be it jealousy, or some personal peeve, I wish I could have it, so that I might be able to perform more assertively in my task given me by Master Baine.
Speaking of the tribal woman, she departed into the woods a few hours ago and I wonder why she hasn’t come back yet. If she does not return by morning, I should probably make sure that she returns safely. The injury or death of a companion to Cordell would only delay her arrival to West Port. And though I am very grateful that my beloved Master would give me this assignment, I will be very happy when it is complete.
I will write more secrets soon.
[Minor Scribble on the bottom of the page] I hope Baine, or Shilon as he continues to request, doesn’t read this book. I don’t think I could bear the shame of him reading my simple, and naive thoughts.
Please visit the sister site to light in the darkness and post your character's background and information there before posting on the story. You may also post descriptions of weapons (land dragons, etc) or places there. Your background doesn't have to be as lengthy as Snim's. Please read the interlude (there) and storyline posts (on this blog) before entering the story.

so Mira has a journal. hmm. what if Mira and Gertrude somehow become comrades? seeing that they have similar interests and personalities. it will take awhile, though, seeing that Bonnie already decided not to trust her.
