Still holding his hand in mine I calmly replied, "You don't have to be so formal. Randy blew our cover. Amber knows who we really are. But, she's on our side." I smiled at Amber, she blushed a little then turned to talk the mysterious bodyguard.

"Don't worry about teaching me to read right now. It's not a priority. Amber reminded me what we're doing here, protecting Cordell and her missing medallion." Cordell gave us a little embarrassed half-smile.

I pulled him aside so the others couldn't hear our conversation, "The way I see it, she could get killed either way. We must stay together, no matter what! My chief always said to leave no man behind(or woman as the case may be). Speaking of which, Randy went off into the forest alone. Judging by the way he acts around strangers he could be in great danger. It may be wise to go after him. But I will leave it up to you, after all you are our leader. We're very tired, after fighting off a Leeran (mostly Randy and Amber) and then driving the carriage here. Do you know that older woman who told us where to find you? Randy felt she could not be trusted, we figured we'd get your opinion on the matter."

I looked over my shoulder to see Cordell flirting with the guard while Amber just stood by unsure what to do. I then turned back to William, taking his other hand, and asked him seriously, "what are we doing here, really?"
