The trip had gone along smoothly, better than could have been hoped considering. Then again I had hired extra guards for the caravan considering the people we were escorting. Lord Dinli had chosen a very good time to come along though, passage in and out of Westport was becoming tenuous. A noble's presence would surely forestall any long holdups at the customs house.
"Vahn," Bruce was calling to me. "You look troubled what is it?"
"It's just," He sighed. "Your being here eases my worries and increases them."
"I understand," He had a steady face. "Do not be troubled. I will not be in your hair for long. The gates are approaching." He pointed to the gates.
The guards began the routine inspection and opened one of the boxes of goods. I handed the guard who approached me my trading license and my manifest. He glanced at them both and then asked Lord Dinli a few questions about his homeland. He answered them flawlessly, of course, and the guard didn't seem to know if the questions were correct and so he moved on and finished the inspection.
"Alright you are clear, go on ahead." He waved for the caravan to pass through into the city and we began making our way to the warehouse.
Please visit the sister site to light in the darkness and post your character's background and information there before posting on the story. You may also post descriptions of weapons (land dragons, etc) or places there. Your background doesn't have to be as lengthy as Snim's. Please read the interlude (there) and storyline posts (on this blog) before entering the story.
