"Political ball? Are you daft? Why bring up such things around me poor wife! Can' ch see she's already hurtin' as it is? A ball indeed! D'ya believe that Carigin?" Tamitha shouted, standing on her chair.
Randy just shook his head in disgust.
"Look, I didn't mean anything by it. I was just trying to make small talk." the man tried to cover his rudeness.
"Well, don't pay him any mind, dear."Mira chimed in,"I am sure he didn't realize what he was saying. " Turning to the man, "No, sir. I do not think we will be attending any ball tonight. And not because of my handicap, mind you. It's just that, you said it was political, by that I would assume that only ranking people would be invited. As you can see, we would not be considered soldiers by anyone's standards."
Nice one! Randy threw her a glance.
"That's just what I mean! Here they are trying to take over our town, and we don't have any say in the matter!" The man threw down his bar mop, "I say, the lot of us, we go down there and show those snobs who's boss around her!"
"Yeah!" Tamitha chimed in, "Let's kick some butt!"
Mira gave her a scolding look.
"Uh, I mean, yes, that'd be an awfully good idea. Don'cha think so, mate?" Tamitha said as she elbowed Randy.

Do the people of West Port know about the siege? I thought it was a secret operation. I liked the accents. It is an interesting break from the norm. So they are not going to the ball?
ReplyDeletethe people don't know what they're planning, but how often do they hold these events? They noticed a lot of military people in the area, most likely. or maybe because of all the recent slaughter they are hoping the government is doing something. It is up to Luke if they go or not. because Tamitha is all for it at the end, she elbows Randy for approval.
