This little girl was getting more annoying by the second, first she insists on tagging along and then she interrupts our kissing. AGAIN! I had to do something. I had to find a moment to sneak away and...

"Pardon me sir," A man walked up to us. "Would you like any Tapestian Diamonds for your lovely lady?"

I shook my head and pushed past him, but he was persistent, "The finest way to proclaim your love in the world. Guaranteed to impress even the richest king with your exquisite taste."

"I said no," I pushed past him again but he got in front of me for a third time.

"Come on I know you can't say no to the offer I'll make you," He smirked broadly. "And I know she'll love it."

I was getting mad. "Look, pal," I said as I grabbed his collar and pushed him against a wall. "I'm not interested. Now get lost."

"Suit yourself," He called after us. "But you're missing the deal of a lifetime, you hear, the deal of a lifetime!"

I turned to my startled companions, "Sorry I just hate swindlers and he was probably one of them." Before they could say anything I pointed up ahead, "That looks like a fine place to catch a bite to eat."

We ate and talked, I talked all about my life in Old Thrisfalen but I had a feeling the girl didn't buy it. It didn't matter much either way, what was she going to do when I ditched her?

Bonita stood up, "I've got to use the restroom I'll be right back."

I stood when she did as any gentleman would and then sat down, Tamitha looked at me a little funny, "Why did you do that?"

"It's proper to stand when a woman stands at your table," I looked around and frowned. "Where is that waiter?"

A few minutes later and Bonita had returned and the meal had been paid for. I took Bonita by the hand and smiled, "Well this is where we part ways Tami. It's been nice to meet you. I hope you find that," I paused as if I couldn't think of the name. "Friend," I finally said. "Of yours."

She looked sad and distraught and I just lifted her chin with my finger to look up at me, "Hey, you'll be fine I'm sure he's looking for you too."

I could tell she wanted to protest but I quickly turned and fled with Bonita. She looked at me and smiled once we were a good distance off, "So where are we headed now?"

"I have a few places to stop and see if my family is there and then it's off to, what would then be, the last lead I have that will take us out of this city and into the next kingdom."

She looked thoroughly confused but followed my lead as we ran into several places that seemed to be expecting our visit but to no avail. As we were preparing to leave the city with the horses we had purchased in town I stopped and sighed.

"What's the point of it all anyways?" I said to Bonita.

She looked at me bewildered and completely taken off guard by my actions today and the behavior of the people we hadn't known that acted familiar to us.

She, however, was better at playing along than I could have possibly hoped, "Well we need to find your family to see what kind of people they were and to know what kind of people your parents were, perhaps we could even find portraits of them and now what they looked like."

She wrapped me in a hug and I sat up in her arms and smiled, "You're right of course. We must be off then."

We got on our horses and headed out of the city towards the next town.

(For deanna, Will explains once they are out of the city that they had been being followed and watched all day until they left the city and he had to put on a good show. He also tells her about Cordell being taken prisoner and that he is going to try and break her out. He makes it very clear that he wants to get her out because she saved his life and not because of any feelings he has towards her.)
