Without any explanation Will left. I searched the bath chamber to find it too was empty. finally! I can be myself. Before I could think another thought I felt as though someone was watching me. A small breeze rushed through the open window. I ran over to shut it, and looked over my shoulder to the opposite corner of the room.
"Master!" I tried to contain my excitement, which he quickly dashed away.
"You have failed me."
My heart sank. I didn't know how to respond. I just lowered my eyes to the ground.
"You let Cordell out of your sight. Lucky for you, I know where she is. Come, I need you for another deed." He brushed my chin gently with his fingertips as he led me to the window. He reopened it and climbed down the balcony like a spider: gracefully and quietly. I followed, not quite so gracefully, but equally quiet. "We really need to work on that." he seemed to smirk a little "later, come someone is waiting for us."
We made our way through town like ghosts, hiding in the shadows unseen by anyone. Once on the outskirts of town, Shilon found an old blacksmith asleep in his chair. "Wake up man! Don't you know war is raging all around you? I need you to make something for my friends who will be coming this way."
When he offered no money, the man just grunted and closed his eyes to go back to sleep. Shilon grabbed him by the collar and lifted him a few feet off the ground, "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear!"
Once that was established, he led me to the city wall where a large tree was planted. He moved a brick in the wall and the ground next to the tree fell in. "I need you to stand here by the tree and wait for my friend. When she is in place push the brick, once to open and again to close. Understand?" I nodded, and he jumped into the pit. "stay hidden, your life depends on it." A shiver ran up my spine and got goosebumps as he looked deep into my eyes. He truly did not want to see me hurt. He waved his hand, and I pushed the brick again.
Once the trapdoor was closed I covered it with leaves and waited silently for his "friend" to come. The wait was long, then she finally came. It was difficult to see in the darkness, but I eventually recognized her. Bonita! What does he want with her? I tried not to be jealous, but the poison crept into my heart. I debated whether or not to push the brick, but in my heart I wanted to believe that he loved me. There must be another reason. When she was least expecting it, I pushed the brick hard. Tears welled up in my eyes. I wondered how long I would have to wait there until Shilon called for me.
Please visit the sister site to light in the darkness and post your character's background and information there before posting on the story. You may also post descriptions of weapons (land dragons, etc) or places there. Your background doesn't have to be as lengthy as Snim's.
