William

I'd had to run from the fire. I'd been looking for the trail as long as I could but I hadn't had enough time to find it again.

It was dark now and the fire had subsided. I followed the river downstream and found a stone bridge. I crossed and soon found two women travelling through the trees. They looked starved and tired, not to mention irritable.

I recognized them both after a moment and they saw me, but I'm not sure they knew who I was.

"Don't worry," I said. "It's just me Will the monk. There is a bridge this way, but you probably know that and were headed that way already. Anyways, you look hungry, maybe I can help. Come on let's go."

I turned and began walking into the woods.

  1. uh, why would we go back to the burned part of the woods? the girls already crossed the bridge. I didn't say it directly but I thought it was assumed when I said they were on the other side of the ravine. also, I thought ravine implied small. it's your story, so if that's not what it means I will go along with it.

  2. also...is he following a path or just footprints? it wouldn't make sense to have a path leading straight to the tree.

  5. but it was a decoy tree, meaning not the one you were in just one you had climbed into and out of to lose pursuers
