Hour after hour we took turns being the watch-out until it got dark.
"I'm hungry." Cordell complained,"my feet hurt. we've been doing this for hours. Can we come out of hiding yet?"
I thought about it for a minute "yeah, but quietly, we don't want anyone to know about this place." I was getting sick of her complaining.
We slowly climbed out of the hollow tree and looked around. "Wow, they really scorched the place. Where do we go now?"
"Oh man, my home! There is no where to hide now, everything is gone."
"well, at least the fire went out." she said dusting her skirt "so where's the food?"
I rolled my eyes, it was like she didn't realize the magnitude of what had just happened. "Well, unless you have a spear, we are going to eat bark. As you may have noticed there's not a whole lot of live plants around here."
"Ew! I'd rather starve."
"Fine with me!" I grumbled as we wondered away from the tree in the opposite direction of my previous home. why me? I was minding my own business and these people came along and ruined my life!
